Description[edit | edit source]

Dragons are very difficult to get to early in a game, but they can be brutally powerful for punishing players who don't defend well or have chosen a build that doesn't have much anti air power.

Usage[edit | edit source]

The combination of speed, range, flight, and regeneration makes Dragons the ultimate harassment unit. They are able to catch lone units on the map and hound them continually until they reach support. In addition, Dragons deal AOE damage in a very small range - too small to be useful against ordinary units, but devastating against Workers, which stack on top of one another when mining.

In addition, the ability to fly gives Dragons natural defense against many ground units. Dragons are able to abuse cliffs and terrain obstacles to attack with impunity, especially with range upgrades, and to escape critical damage.

However, Dragons are immensely expensive, costing more than any other unit in the game, and surprisingly weak in direct combat. They can be engaged cost-effectively by groups of Archers, and are extremely vulnerable to Ballista. Instead, Dragons must rely on their speed to avoid combat and attack only the weakest enemies.
